(Anyone who gets violent has to leave! Protection for victims of domestic violence)

Every person has the right to live free from violence.

This entails:

  • EThe right to say no – also within a partnership.
  • EThe right to be treated with respect and taken seriously by a partner.
  • EThe right to leave one’s partner.

Do not feel guilty. There is no justification for threatening or hitting other people. The fault is with the perpetrator – not with you!

Are you affected by violence?

Your life partner or former life partner:

  • Eis insulting you and talking badly about you towards friends or family members.
  • Eis locking you up.
  • Eis threatening harm against you, your children, family, friends, pets, or themselves.
  • Eis hitting, punching, pushing, or biting you.
  • Eis pursuing, harassing, or terrorising you.

You will get help!

There is a law on the protection from violence. It strengthens your rights as a victim of violence. Upon your request, the court can banish the perpetrator from a shared flat for six months even if they are the tenant or owner.
The court can pass a prohibition to contact or approach you. The perpetrator will not be allowed to:
  • Eenter the flat.
  • Eapproach you, the children, or the flat.
  • Econtact you by phone, letters, emails, or text messages.
The BIss can offer advice on this. Schedule an appointment with us!
